Community Champions Showcase

Meet our 2025 Community Champions! These passionate individuals represent their communities across EPA Region 9, which includes American Samoa, Arizona, California, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, Hawai'i and Nevada. This group is committed to being part of an ongoing effort to mobilize local communities and address environmental health issues in their region.

  • Diana Papini Warren

    Learning Endeavors, Executive Director

    Diana Papini Warren founded and leads the non-profit Learning Endeavors whose mission is to inspire the next generation of leaders in Hawaiʻi and beyond by developing and managing innovative education programs.

    Ocean Conservation Corp: Marine Stewardship Advocate; Northern Marianas Humanities Council: A'ayuda (Facilitator)

    Although my experience includes print (physical)/digital arts with an extension to broadcasting, I currently do a few tasks around the island of Saipan of the Northern Marianas. I advocate for the stewardship of marine resources across the archipelago of the Northern Marianas Islands.

    I have been actively involved in environmental and energy justice work within my community, particularly through my collaboration with the Fillmore Youth Conservation Corps (FYCC).

    Central California Asthma Collaborative

    Originally born Berkeley and raised Hayward-Oakland area, Wonuola relocated to Fresno in 2006, with her family and has been in Fresno ever since.

    Jackie Spicer (she/her) is lifelong Nevadan and serves as the Coalition Coordinator for the Nevada Environmental Justice Coalition (NEJC).
